day four
I’ve been looking for you
In folded papers
In bags of apples
In boxes of pumpkins
In cups of black coffee
In leaves with burnt edges
In trees nearly laid bare
In crisp air laced with the suggestion
Of colder times to come
In blank faces on the subway
In profiles on my computer
In drained glasses of wine
And strangers eyes across bars
In plans laid out for me
In other boys ideas of me
In unmade beds
And rooms askew
In twilight walks
Along the edges of my neighborhood
Around darkened corners
And past your old apartment
In cold, empty fingertips
Stuffed into pockets
Instead of the gloves you bought for me
Or your hand, impatiently held out for me
Seasonal changes
Months dormant
In every bit inevitable
I’ve started missing you
And everything now suddenly feels like winter

First, very well written.

Jesus Smitten. Spare a thought for the pre-menstrual among us. I had to talked down off a window ledge after reading that.
