slivers: my favorite bits of 2004

[Update: Pop-up images in place. I promise to make these pop-up into full-sized images at some point, um, I just have a party to get to and champagne to go chill right now. I'm sure you'll understand. And yes, I am also copping out of writing an entry to wrap this year up. I just can't. It's been too big and humbling. But thank you - you've been a grand part of it.]

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I think these images are wonderful just as is. Reminds me of Israeli artist Agam, if you know his work. He's got a fountain in the middle of Tel Aviv that many people have seen--does lots with slivers of color, etc...

Brilliantly colorful, patriotically evocative, incontrovertibly reflective of your New York experience. (Even though, clearly, Paris is in there somewhere...)

;)

We have an Agam in our house...The photo collage is vaguely reminscent of it. Chalk it up to my mom's amazing taste and your artistic eye.

Deb, every time I read/look at the pretty pictures your blog, you make me miss the city. Yes, even the sketchy areas. I'd brave them all to be back on 120th and Amsterdam. I hope college will come soon enough to take me back.

Happy New Year to you as well...Here's to 2005!

Happy New Year. I, too, took a pass on the year-in-review post. Sometimes i feel my past doesn't stand up to too much scrutiny. Better off not to look.

You've got a great year coming up ... enjoy!

so, um, let's say i was to do a similar thing on my blog with the small pieces of each picture as link to the full-size version. would that be stealing from you? if so, could i have your permission because i think it looks really awesome? i would give you attribution and everything.

Go for it - have fun with the shapes and sizes. But, um, it took a ridiculously long time in the end, just so you know.

Love your pictures and your site. Really would like to know how you did this with your photo's. I would like to do something like this on my blog. If you could give me some tips I would greatly appreciate it. Enjoy your life and thanks.

MT comes with a lovely code generator that makes the pop-up images for you. I replace their thumbnail picture with my own, trimmed to the dimensions I want. I'll see if I can dig up the code.
