i am unstoppable.

Yesterday, I:

  • Tried on my first, second, third, and fourth wedding dresses ever.
  • A little freaked out, had my mother book dress appointments at two stores.
  • Dropped off all clothes that needed tailoring to the tailor in a timely manner.
  • Paid all of my bills and even mailed them.
  • Shopped for wedding invitations with Alex.
  • Began our Crate and Barrel registry.
  • Watched DVDs of several wedding bands, accidentally falling in love with one, mostly for their rendition of “Living on a Prayer”.
  • Dumped Debbie.
  • FedEx-ed the catering hall contract and deposit.
  • Cooked dinner.
  • Asked Alex’s sister to be my third bridesmaid.
  • Fell in love with these overpriced but fantastic party favors. (Thank you sarah!)
  • Took my favorite Flickr photo yet. (See Above.)

Today, I:

  • Booked an appointment with a florist.
  • Have immersed myself in several tech publications in preparation for a phone interview this afternoon.

At the rate I am going, I believe that by the end of the weekend I will have memorized the Chicago Manual of Style, sewn my own damned dress, learned Cantonese, and solved the global energy crisis.

How about you?

Holy cow those M&Ms rock! Talk about melt in your mouth -- with style!

Very impressive. I have yet to finish unpacking my kitchen and I've lived there 4 months now.

Here's a tip. Bring your camera with you when trying on W dresses. I helped a bride find a dress once and she was thrilled with it until she saw herself in the wedding photos. "Is that really what my arms look like?" She now hates all her wedding photos. So take some pics from all angles and make sure you are happy.

Brilliant! You fired Debbie! I think a celebration with a little Basil Hayden's is in order. You know, so it has positive connotations of her not being around vs. active dislike of the chirpy little thing. Hm. Since I haven't been nearly as productive as you, perhaps I'll leave work early and enjoy some myself...

I have in the past 48 hours:
Cleaned my shoebox/studio apartment to the point where I am able to see the floor in the closet for the first time in TWO YEARS.
Bought a French press coffeemaker to replace my old, rusted, shitty one.
Had a er um wax.
Been to the gym. Twice.
Thrown a hissy fit at Boston Store's lingerie counter because they wouldn't take a Bra That Was A Spectacularly Bad Idea (it was strapless, backless and involved adhesive tape) back, because my state ID was expired. While I am not a big girl, I am big...there.
And all because of, yessir, a boy.
(Miss Deb, I apologize for the lengthy comment from some girl who has never posted before and is not part of your inner circle. The topic material inspired me to rant. Also you may actually remember me from that one time I wrote a quasi-fan, quasi-Dan Savage email and asked you what to do if a relationship is fantastic in all areas other than getting yours during the sex0ring. THAT relationship exploded spectacularly on New Year's Day after two years of much better sex, and this new boy is the first boy I have wanted anything to do with since. Not that you asked. However, I wanted to say: thanks. And congratulations, and good luck, and all.)

Sheesh - I am exhausted just reading about it all. Send some of that energy my way, would ya?

Good luck with the interview.

What have I done this week? Spent quality time with my dogs...and that's about it.

Sounds like you've been super busy and you've only been engaged for like two months. What a good kitten you are! I think I may be a lazy bride. I kind of gave up after spending two hours comparing paper stock for invites. Selecting a font might drive me to heroin. I am so sorry that Manuel and I are missing the big engagement party at the Barbie Dream Loft. We'll be in Tokyo- but will be thinking of you guys. Kampai!

11 | Alexis | January 28, 2005 04:36 PM

Alex wants to know if you can bring him back a geisha. JK. Really.

12 | deb | January 28, 2005 04:41 PM

fun fun fun... my weekend consists of the wedding dresses, cake, and florist. you're getting married the week after me! yay!

13 | Devlyn | January 28, 2005 04:43 PM

I finally got my iPod shuffle in the mail!

14 | Brian | January 28, 2005 05:48 PM

I was just reading ALL ABOUT those today! What's the big deal? The technology is 4 years ago, it's just less of it.

15 | deb | January 28, 2005 07:53 PM

Theres some show on DIY next week all about wedding invitations, well invitations in general, but I am only focusing on one thing here

16 | Sparky | January 28, 2005 11:29 PM

I hung up a towel this morning. I think. Or was that last month?

17 | sveedish | January 28, 2005 11:52 PM

Seven months from today you'll be married. Isn't that weird?

18 | Amanda | January 29, 2005 01:54 AM

I just woke up (1:53 pm) And damn, I have so much wedding stuff to do!

I think the most fun of the wedding process so far was crate and barrel--they have these events on a sun morning before the store opens with about 30 couples. They serve breakfast and mimosas and give you a scanner gun and you run around the store and scan everything you want on your registry. I think they are doing it again in february

So I wonder how many dresses one has to try on to find just the right one? 4 down, ? to go! I just got engaged 3 weeks ago, so I'll be doing all these things soon. You seem to have a lot of ladies in the planning stages - looking forward to some great tips from all of you. I found you from Bathroom Reading's site. Great blog - I'll be back!

20 | Texas Biscuit | January 30, 2005 03:44 AM

Thank goodness you dumped Debbie, she was totally getting on my nerves.

21 | Katherine | January 30, 2005 11:33 PM

I made a mixed concoction of raspberry and cranberry jell-o. It prepared me for my pity-party of "waiting for the question, but i'm still happy to see you engaged and planning away". cheers
