tompkins square park, somewhere between the first and third mug of baileys hot cocoa
Baileys Hot Cocoa
2 tsp. unsweetened cocoa
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 cup milk
Baileys Irish Cream
Form a paste with the sugar, cocoa, and a splash of the milk. Slowly add the rest of the milk, stirring. Heat in a pan, until "shivering" - steamy and hot, but no bubbles breaking the surface. Pour into your mug/thermos/flask/receptacle of choice and fill the remainder with Baileys. You may require a double-sized mug to get the proportions just right, but I promise, you will never drink that powdered-enveloped-just-add-water nonsense again.

I'm soooo jealous, we get so little snow here in France.
If you've got some room left, have a cup for us poor rainy-winter types!

Alex and I were JUST TALKING about how he had read in one the Paris guidebooks that they rarely get snow though they have roughly the same temperatures as us... I never knew!
Snow is so much better :)
(Sorry to rub it in!)

God I love New York. How beautiful Tompkins Square Park looks! We had a similar snowfall in my neck of the woods (So. Cent. PA, not to be confused with So. Cent. LA).
Made me act like a little kid.

Oh my god. Bailey's hot cocoa. That is genius!

Never made it sledding in Prospect Park last night, hopefully will today. Have hip-flash and bottle of Green Spot Irish whisky at the ready! (I think I enjoy drinking in parks too much?)

Irish Coffee
Pour one shot of Jamison's whiskey (or more if you like) into the bottom of your mug. Slowly stir in a tablespoon of dark brown sugar until the sugar dissolves into the whiskey completely. Fill mug with coffee (I like decaf at night so as not to disturb the numb buzz with sleep prevention), add milk or cream if you prefer it, and top with whipped cream and a dash of cocoa or cinnamon. Yum.

Yup, definitely NOT the season to come visit us, my dear.
Go for late April, May or June.
My personal favourite is May, but that's because people always give me presents around the middle of it. Go figure!

"steamy and hot, with no bubbles breaking the service..."
You've just described my perfect relationship.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, so you probably won't even read this, but a bit of (necessary, due to the snow) experimentation this weekend produced a new masterpiece: Hot Chocolate and Malibu. It doesn't sound good, but it tastes divine. When you run out of Malibu (too), Amaretto will do in a pinch.

I've found that hot chocolate is very good with triple sec orange liqueur as well. I stumbled across this when I googled "Baileys and hot cocoa". I tried it myself one day when experimenting. It's so incredibly delicious... I'm actually writing an essay about it. Go figure.
