ooh, it's a mess alright... *
I’m not really sure what turns a dusty fourth-floor walkup apartment in Chelsea into an I Can’t Believe We Almost Lost This Place, and This Is The Best Apartment Ever-type pad. Maybe it is the fitful, hellish process you went through to procure it, or the way you had dreaded it, certain it wouldn’t be as great as what you’d grown accustomed to. Perhaps it’s something as simple as that extra flight of stairs, over which you flat-out refused to even consider the place, but in the end brought you roof access, the prospect of perfectly toned legs just in time for summer, and skylights that bathe your existence in natural light. Maybe it’s those Gangs of New York-era ramshackle buildings (taxpayers?) across the street, their low roofs allowing sunlight to stream into your living room, opening up your view of yesterday’s sunset. It might even be the matching bedroom furniture set you two ordered, the pots and pan rack you nabbed from the last place, or your old bookcases and lamps finally taken out from storage and happily reunited. Maybe it’s that you two moved there together, rather than he and then you later, as you two tried to make you and your stuff fit into the previously established order.
But mostly, mostly really actually it’s about this massive sofa, shrink-wrapped and strenuously heaved up three flights of stairs by Vinnie’s burly boys with nary a complaint, and the permanent, long-overdue Alex and Deb shape soon to be dented in it.
** Big thank you to SantaDad for blog-sitting while I tried to find my way out from under the avalanche of boxes. (Yes, my dad IS cooler than yours.)

ooh my fiance lived on the 4 floor in Boston, no elevators, and he had the nicest calves back then!
Now we live in a tiny cottage in Nashville. Calves are nice but aren't the nicEST anymore.
Get a little give a little I s'pose.
Congratulations on the move!

Hey, I just wanted to say congrats on the new place. I, like everyone else on the planet, also HATE moving. I also wanted to say that I really enjoyed your dad's post and that I can see where you get your charm and wit from (I'm sure your mom's fab as well). Anyways, he should really consider writing his own blog.

Enjoy setting up the new place! I couldn't help but notice the wine glass on the table in the picture....now that's a girl (much like myself) who has her priorities in order. Chardonnay first, THEN unpacking!
