post-op
Earlier this week, I sent a check to Amanda for $500, rounding off your Amazon donation total of $458 (after their fee). She had her surgery two weeks ago, and is healing well, trading physical therapy services with a friend for free massages when she gets better. Through the second donation group, we raised $175, and at the “rent party” for Amanda’s knee two Saturday’s ago at Jocelyn’s, we raised another $400*, bringing the grand total to $1100. Amanda’s rent is paid for the next two months, and while that may seem tiny or insignificant compared to the obscene medical bills she is facing, there is nothing tiny nor insignificant about a bunch of strangers ensuring that you have a place to live while you recover from an accident.
[Goosebumps.]
* And might I add, through the most unique and well, traumatizing of fund-raising techniques. [Hey, I just signed my name on your chest! Put $5 in the jar!”] Please, let us never speak of this again.
Below, three gnarly pictures of Amanda’s knee, to be opened in pop-up windows should you wish you spare yourself the rainbow-of-pain-type imagery. But why would you want to do a thing like that? ...

Those pictures are pretty gross huh? Anyway people can still make donations at http://conscie.ntio.us/ And by the way we are up to $1,550 now! So incredible. She is really truly so apprciative of all your efforts and the random kindness of your spectacular readers!
Thank you!

That really is rather touching (the donations, not the pictures though I love that you provided photographic evidence!) Can I borrow some of your readers when my health insurance runs out in a couple of weeks? :D

Oy on the photos, but bravo on the donations. You are a good friend. May the world be blessed with this sort of positive action. Pay it forward!

OMG! It's true, I am absolutely so thankful for everyones concerns and donations. Bruising and swelling have gone down considerably because of physical therapy and continuous rehab - I'm begining to see my knee cap again! YEA!
