caught a light sneeze

The last few days I’ve been a mass of possibly unsubstantiated but probably identifiable angst. At first I thought it was because I’d listened to Tori Amos on my way home Wednesday and realized that after ten years, I still don’t understand the meaning of half of her lyrics. Then I thought it was my sunburn making me feel uncomfortable in my own skin. But, I couldn’t sleep Wednesday night, wholly convinced that every noise against the skylight was someone trying to break in, yet even with my security blanket back from his business trip last night, I slept no better. On my best day at work this week, I’ve performed average, and you may think I am being hard on myself, but it’s eerily the truth since I’ve been promoted. While this isn’t really like me to be so not-seeing-the-big-picture of things, I’ll try to say something that is: I’m sure this is just a phase. We all hit spaces in our life when what we are isn’t adding up to what we’d like to be, and it means it’s time to make some adjustments. This I can do.
In the meanwhile, I’ve hunted, foraged, and gathered a series of pictures taken by strangers that sort of soothe and cheer me at the same time. I’d sum them up as bright or bold or calm, but that might ruin the moment. I hope they please you, too. (In addition, if you have Flickr Favorites collections, paste the URL in the comments for me. I’d love to see.)

I thought it was getting a little boring around here. I'm glad it's just a phase and yes, we all go through them. Turns out, life can't be all roses even with promotions and skylights and love.

I love the close-up photos. I've always found it interesting to look at very common things from a different angle. I am, however, at this moment craving a cupcake, which I was not before I clicked on this blog.

You speak to my soul, darling! Perhaps Tori is too abstract for her own good sometimes? When nothing else works, I turn to nature and brisk walking to fight my introspective funnies.

Deb, do you have a good recipe for a graham cracker crust? I need one for a 13x9 pan....

I'm loving everyone's favorites so far, thanks for sharing.
I've used these proportions to make a 9" graham cracker crust: 5oz ground graham crackers to 3 T sugar to 1/4 c. melted butter. You mix them and press it into your pan. Since nobody complains when it's thick, I usually double it. I'm sure if you did, it would work well.

ah, yes, the itchy doldrums; while in their midst, one feels as if aliens have abducted us and replaced us in someone elses too tight skin. Its ok, you just need to do whatever centers and grounds you...I got a biiig rush of grounding recently by finally acomplishing a shoulder stand in Yoga. Are you still practicing? Jezzie

Are you sure your angst isn't about what to make for Passover?

Santadad-
It's horribly easy (and I'm sure Deb could improve on it) but I'm lazy. Here you go...
Crust: (it calls for a pecan/flour combo, but for this, I like graham cracker)
2 c. flour
1 c. chopped pecans
1 c. melted butter
Mix and press on bottom & sides of 13x9 pan. Bake at 350 for 10 min and cool completely.
1st layer: 3 bananas sliced and placed on crust.
2nd layer: 12 oz. softened cream cheese
1.5c sugar
juice of 1 lemon
4c. cool whip
Mix together and spread over bananas - chill to firm it up.
3rd layer:
1 can of blueberry pie filling, spread over the top. Stick back in fridge so the blueberry can "gel" a bit...
Enjoy! (I'm going to try a reduced-cal version of this with splenda, lower fat cream cheese/cool whip and fresh blueberries...) I hope you like it!

Ive always wondered how you can post all your faves from flickr. I tried but i keep getting the slide show? Will you share the trick of being able to show all of them as one pic?

Eek, I did a screen shot and lowered the resolution a bit so it wouldn't be too big a file. Probably not the best way to do it.
